Why the Credit Rating Agencies/Bureaus Don't Care if Your Credit Score is Accurate.

Although many people may never consider whether the Credit Bureaus care about the accuracy of their data on an individual basis, you should. It is not that the Credit Bureaus intend to accumulate false or dated information on your credit history. It is the structure of the business model used by the Credit Bureaus that drives the inaccuracies. Because the Credit Bureaus are paid to provide credit scores that are reasonably accurate (on a macro basis), it does not hurt their bottom line if some of the Credit Scores they provide are dated or inaccurate. In fact, you are the only one who can ensure complete accuracy of the information on your credit report. If you do not monitor your credit report and fight through the Credit Bureau's paper work barriers, it is likely that your Credit Report will contain some inaccuracies. Sadly, most people only discover these inaccuracies when they are about to purchase a home or other large purchase. The current structure of the credit system makes it so that only you can ensure the accuracy of your credit report and credit score.
